OF THE INSTITUTE
About the Institute
Colleges
are temples of education. They mould the future of our country.
So, heading an institution which shapes the next generation
of a nation which is poised for a big leap in almost all fields
is not an easy job. Realizing the mammoth responsibilities bestowed
upon us, our institution tries its level best to provide an
excellent academic career to its students.
C.U.Shah Science College was founded in 1965 near Thaltej Tekra
by C.U.Ronak Foundation which also manages two other institutions:
C.U.Shah Commerce College and C.U.Shah Higher Secondary School
(Science Stream). Later on, the Science College was shifted to
new venue at the Ashram Road in 1968 by the then Managing Trustee
Late Shri I.M.Nanavati. The College is at present centrally
located near famous Income Tax Circle from where various public
transport facilities are available from college to every nook
and corner of the city and even some important places in the
vicinity. The donor Shri C.U.Shah and the Managing Trustee Shri
Sudhir I. Nanavati took active interest and gave valuable insight,
co-operation and guidance to our college; as a result of which
it has achieved the present day status of high esteem. The Institute
is affiliated to Gujarat University, Ahmedabad and has a grant-
in- aid status of Gujarat Government.
We take great pride in the fact that owing to our academic excellence,
our College was honoured as the Best College for the year 1983-84
by the Government of Gujarat in 1987. Though we have achieved
multisided development for the institute, we still strive for
an all round development in all departments of our institution.
We were the pioneer in introducing Bio-chemistry as a principal
subject at the under-graduate level in the state of Gujarat
way back in 1979. Students are encouraged to participate in
a variety of extra-curricular activities which enable them to
interact with others on daily basis. The college also takes
immense interest in organizing developmental programs for the
students. The teaching and learning methods used include lectures,
seminars by the students and special lectures by distinguished
speakers from various fields. Students are also inspired to
give their best academically. The students are also exposed
to modern teaching aids like Over-head Projectors, computers
and internet technology.
Meritorious students of the college are honored in their respective
subjects by awarding them medals. Teachers of the college interact
with the students and take interest in helping students in their
multisided development.
The College Library resources has an exhaustive collection of over 23000
books on various subjects, 20 journals and around 35 magazines
along with leading national and local newspapers. The college
Library also has good reading facility on library premises itself.
Laboratories of all the departments are well equipped with latest
gadgets providing best possible scientific environment for the
students to perform experiments. The College campus also has
small botanical garden.
