Sports Meet

A healthy body houses a healthy mind. To promote student interest in games and sports, many sports activities are conducted periodically. The college provides sporting facilities to students for cricket, volleyball, table tennis and many other games and sports. An annual sports fest is also conducted by the college where various sporting competitions are conducted. This develops a healthy competitive spirit among the students and foster a feeling of cooperation among students of various departments as well.

Study and sports are two linked components of our learning process and will always be important for an individual. A healthy mind can exist only in a healthy body. It is rightly said that a healthy nation can be built if the citizens are physically fit. The mental pressure and tension arising out of the fast modern life can only be released in the playground and therefore, healthy diet and fitness have gained a new status in today’s world.

 

CULTURAL ACTIVITY CLUB

All colleges affiliated to the Gujarat University are divided in the five zones. C.U.Shah Science College falls in the “Ellisbridge North Zone”. Usually youth welfare department organizes zonal youth festival by the end of the September every year. Cultural committee organizes different events and competitions prior this youth festival. Viz. music, dance, literary events, theatre, fine arts etc.

Winner students of the college in each event represents college in the respective event. Winner at zonal level compete at inter zonal level.

College has won 18 prizes so far at zonal level and a prize at inter zonal level.

In the second term, committee organizes cultural festival that comprises events like singing, instrument playing, group and solo dance, skit, one act play, mime, poetry recitation and poetry completion, wall painting etc.

National Independence Day and Republic Day are celebrated in the Institute by unfurling the national flag followed by a guard of honor of the Chief Guest by NCC students, an impressive march past of students of all faculties on the beats of the students’ band and organization of athletic events. The best marching contingent is adjudged by a panel of army veterans

The institution gives utmost importance to the overall development of the students and organizes various sports, games, and cultural activities on /off campus regularly.

To support this, the institution has the following facilities which are kept open beyond the working hours for students and staff.

Facilities and Infrastructure are available at Gym

  • The Gymkhana has amenities for both Indoor and Outdoor games.
  • To play Indoor games, there is 2 Table Tennis (TT) tables, 8 TT bats, 4 boxes of TT balls, 3 Carrom Boards with 5 boxes of Carrom coins and 5 Chess Boards.
  • For Outdoor games, there are 2 Footballs.
  • For Cricket we have 4 bats, 2 Season Bats, ½ dozen Season Balls, 4 Helmets, 4 Wicketkeepers‟ Gloves, 6 Hand Gloves for Batsmen, 4 Abdomen Guards, 4 Elbow pads, 2 Chest Pads, 4 Thigh Pads, 4 pads, and 12 Stumps + 4 dozen Tennis Balls.
  • For Volleyball, we have types of equipment like 2 big Nets, 3 Balls and 6 Timers. We have 2 small Nets and 4 Balls for Throw Ball.
  • For Badminton we have 4 Badminton Rackets, 2 dozen Shuttlecocks, and 1 Net.

Volleyball and Cricket kits, T-Shirt and shoes are provided from the college as per the players requirements during intercollegiate and other sports events. There is infrastructure like 6 tables, 15 chairs, and 1 intercom extension.
